Hello, and welcome to Utah Historical Markers. This website is dedicated to providing historical context and additional content to enrich and enliven the public’s understanding of Utah’s historical markers. It is an ongoing class project under the direction of Professor W. Paul Reeve as well as a collaboration with the Utah State Historical Society.

Students in Professor Reeve’s Utah History courses are required to select one historical marker as their research project for the semester. They must visit the marker, photograph it, record the marker’s gis location, record the marker’s text, and then research and write a an extended entry that offers additional context, photographs, primary and second sources, and new perspectives. Students then load their research to this site. Each marker has its own webpage and pinpoint on our map, and all the markers can be seen in our comprehensive list of markers organized by county. On the county list, markers that students have researched are indicated with a hyperlink. You can also locate completed markers through our list of categories or by using the search tool.

Please, enjoy!
